We are located at 1000 SookePoint Place, Sooke, BC, on the edge of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The resort sits beside East Sooke Park, about 45 minutes from Victoria.

What is SookePoint Ocean Cottage Resort?

SookePoint Ocean Cottage Resort is an oceanfront property on Vancouver Island’s southwest coast. Our cottages sit directly above the Pacific Ocean, offering panoramic views, marine wildlife sightings, and access to the wild West Coast experience.

What types of Cottage Suites are available?

We offer studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom oceanfront Cottage Suites. Every unit includes a full kitchen or kitchenette, private balcony, high-quality furnishings, and floor-to-ceiling ocean or coastline views.

What activities are available near SookePoint?

Popular activities include oceanfront hiking, fishing charters, storm watching, kayaking, wildlife viewing, and exploring East Sooke Regional Park.

Can I watch wildlife from my cottage?

Yes! Guests frequently spot whales, seals, otters, marine birds, and passing ships or marine traffic right from their patio.

Are there beaches nearby?

While SookePoint is built on rocky coastline, several beaches are located a short drive away in nearby Sooke, including Whiffin Spit, Ella Beach, and French Beach Provincial Park.

Is there a restaurant on site?

There is no on-site restaurant. All cottages include kitchens or kitchenettes. Dining options are available in Sooke, approximately 20–30 minutes away.

Is there a grocery store nearby?

Yes. Groceries and supplies can be found in downtown Sooke, about a 30-minute drive from the resort. We recommend picking up groceries before arriving.

How do you guarantee my reservation?

Guests must be 19 years of age and provide a valid credit card to make a reservation. A deposit is required with every booking. If booking online, the deposit policy will be clearly listed beside each rate. If you have any questions, our Guest Services team is available to help.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellation policies vary depending on the rate booked. Flexible-rate reservations must be cancelled at least 72 hours before arrival to receive a full deposit refund. Cancellations made within 72 hours of arrival forfeit the deposit. Non-refundable rates require full payment at booking and are not eligible for refunds or credits. Long-term rate cancellations must be made at least 30 days in advance to receive a refund of the deposit. For third-party bookings, guests should contact their booking provider.

Can I make changes to my reservation?

Yes — but changes in the length or dates of your reservation may result in a rate change.

When can I check-in and check-out?

Check-in is 4:00 p.m. PST and the resort office is open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If you expect to arrive after hours, please contact us at 1-250-642-2635 to arrange late check-in. Check-out is 11:00 a.m. PST. Late check-outs may be available for a fee if requested in advance.

Do I need a car? Where can I park?

Yes — due to the remote location and lack of public transport, we strongly recommend arriving by vehicle. Each Cottage has a dedicated parking stall for one vehicle. Guests must display the parking pass provided in their check-in package. For overflow parking or special vehicles, contact Guest Services in advance.

Can I use a BBQ on site?

Individual Cottage Suites do not permit private BBQ use. However, the resort provides a shared BBQ area with shelter that all guests may use.

Do the suites offer cable TV?

Because each Cottage Suite is individually owned, TV service varies by unit. We recommend bringing a casting device if you have a preferred streaming platform.

Are there playpens or high chairs available to rent?

Yes — high chairs are available for $10/night (plus tax) and playpens for $15/night (plus tax). Guests should inform us before arrival to reserve these items as quantities are limited.

Is the resort accessible for people with mobility challenges?

No – the resort currently does not have any fully accessible suites. All cottages are accessed via exterior stairs. Guests with mobility challenges should contact Guest Services to evaluate suitability before booking.

Is SookePoint pet-friendly?

Yes — a limited number of Cottage Suites are designated as pet-friendly. Please refer to our Pet Friendly page for more details and availability.

Will I get an ocean view?

Yes — all buildings at SookePoint are cliffside with ocean-facing orientation. Suites provide either a balcony or large windows showing either a Pacific View (out towards the Strait of Juan de Fuca) or a Coastline View (sea and shoreline with wave action). Outdoor seating depends on how the owner furnishes each suite.

Can I choose which Cottage Suite I stay in?

Not guaranteed. Because many suites are individually owned and owner-stays, plus occasional maintenance, we cannot promise a specific unit or building until the day of arrival. We do our best to match guest preferences when possible.

What should I bring with me to SookePoint?

We recommend guests stock up on groceries and supplies before arrival. The nearest small convenience store is about 15 minutes away; a full grocery store is about 30 minutes away in Sooke. Also, because of limited cell coverage near the resort, bring any needed chargers or devices but rely on our complimentary WiFi while onsite.

Is smoking or vaping allowed at the resort?

SookePoint is a non-smoking resort and smoking/vaping is allowed only in designated areas. Smoking or vaping inside Cottage Suites will result in a charge of $250.

Are housekeeping services included?

Cottage Suites are cleaned only upon departure. If you’d like additional cleaning or supply refreshes during your stay, there may be additional charges. Contact Guest Services for details.

Do the cottages have laundry?

Yes — all Cottage Suites at SookePoint include in-suite laundry facilities (washer and dryer).

Will I have internet access?

Yes — all Cottage Suites include complimentary high-speed WiFi.

Is there reliable cell phone service at the resort?

Because of the remote location and proximity to the US border, cell signal can be weak or non-existent. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary WiFi instead to avoid roaming charges.

What resort amenities are currently available?

Currently, the resort offers a gym facility for guest use during office hours, dedicated parking, in-suite amenities, and WiFi. Additional resort amenities will be added as construction progresses.

Is there electric vehicle (EV) charging available?

Not at this time. We recommend fully charging EVs before arriving. There are no designated EV charging stations at the resort.

What if I damage the suite I am renting?

Each Cottage rental suite is privately owned. The renter will be liable for any missing or damaged items during their stay; replacement costs will be charged to the credit card on file.

What is the Environmental Fee?

The Environmental Fee collected by True Key Hotels & Resorts helps support eco-friendly initiatives, recycling programs, energy-efficient appliances, waste management, and sustainability efforts at SookePoint and its surrounding natural environment.

Studio Cottages

Similar to a hotel room, with an open-concept living and sleeping space, our Studio Cottages are perfect for 1 to 2 guests and feature a King bed, full bathroom, electric fireplace, and flat screen TV. You’ll find a galley kitchenette with a mini fridge, microwave, toaster oven, hot plate, Keurig coffee maker, kettle, all dishes, cooking utensils and cutlery – just enough so you can prepare your own meals or bring in take-out from a delicious local dining option.

The Studio Cottages may be the smallest sized room we offer but the views are just as stunning.

Please note that Studio Cottages are not pet-friendly. Currently we only offer Pacific View Studio cottage options.
